On of the main concerns the author has in this article is the negative environmental impact that these large global corporations have. Everyone knows that these companies are bad for the environment but what bothers the author and my self as i read it is that we, the customers, the consumers are the ones who get blamed. We get blamed for buying the gadgets so it is our fault. The author feels it is the companies who start with the gadgets in the first place are the ones who force upon are society to buy them, so there for it is their fault. This is because of the rule of business, innovated by Steve Jobs, states that it is not the customer's job to know what they want, as apposed to the traditional rule of business to give the customers what they want.
With the success of the apple corporation and the i pods, iPhones ect, these gadgets have given needs to humans that were not of need before. Because Steve Jobs played by his own rule of bushiness to give the customers exactly what they want, the author is saying that we did not need these gadgets before, that in which consumes our present day lives. The author is saying that we didn't need these gadgets before, and now they consume our lives, and people today cant seem to function their daily lives and routines with out them. The gadgets have become a huge influence on our life styles. It is a main concern recognized by the author that we can't function with out our gadgets, and that is because of the business strategy by apple that with all this new technology put into our gadgets; that we need them. (When as before, we did not always need gadgets.)
Despite the environmental impact that we get the blame for, and the obsession with our gadgets, another concern mentioned in the article is the workers manufacturing these gadgets while the corporations keep a 73% profit margin apposed to the wages and salaries of their minimum wage 18-hour day worker. So there for we shouldn't feel guilty for owning an i-phone because we are not the ones keeping that 73%, or damaging the environment. This author blames the companies that heavily influence our society to obsess and buy these gadgets.
